Volvo Trucks Australia Celebrates 60,000th Australian-Built Truck Milestone
In a special ceremony marking 60 years of Volvo in Australia, Volvo Trucks Australia presented the 60,000th Australian-built truck to the Borg Group. This significant achievement was celebrated with the unveiling of a Diamond Edition Volvo FH16 780hp Globetrotter XL, a testament to the country's manufacturing prowess.
The Borg Group, a proud Australian manufacturer, received the keys to this iconic truck from Michael and Darren Borg, co-founders of the Borg Group. Tom Chapman, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Volvo Trucks Australia, emphasized the importance of this moment, stating, 'It's a proud moment in Australian manufacturing to see this truck delivered to another proud Australian manufacturer.'
Chapman praised the Borg Group's dedication and innovation over the past 35 years, highlighting their growth and success. Michael Borg expressed his honor in accepting the keys, stating, 'A milestone that speaks to more than 30 years of partnership built on trust, quality, and shared values.'
The Diamond Edition Globetrotter XL will be utilized by the Borg businesses, showcasing its capabilities in hauling machinery and equipment. With a powerful 780hp engine, 17-liter capacity, and 3800Nm of torque, this truck is rated to handle up to 130 tonnes. It features a 13-speed I-Shift automated transmission, Volvo Dynamic Steering, and Pilot Plus automated cruise control, ensuring efficient and safe operation.
The truck's exterior design pays homage to Volvo's 60-year legacy in Australia, while the interior boasts limited-edition dark leather upholstery and a 400-watt sound system with a sub-woofer for an immersive road experience. Additionally, it is equipped with a comprehensive suite of passive and active safety systems, prioritizing driver and passenger well-being.
Volvo Trucks Australia's Wacol manufacturing facility, established in 1972, has grown significantly over the past 53 years, becoming one of Australia's largest vehicle manufacturing sites. Every truck produced at Wacol proudly displays the 'Australian Made' logo, symbolizing the country's commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
