The college football world is abuzz with anticipation as a highly sought-after recruit is about to make his choice! Texas AM edge rusher Kaden McCarty, a top talent from Houston, will commit to a program on Monday, and the decision could shape the future of several teams.
The Early Signing Period has passed, but the excitement continues! While the official 2026 recruiting cycle is winding down, the late signing period in February has become less significant as many prospects opt for early enrollment. Now, the spotlight shifts to the transfer portal and the upcoming 2027 and 2028 classes. And Kaden McCarty, a dominant force on the field, is ready to reveal his college destination.
Introducing Kaden McCarty, the edge rusher extraordinaire:
- Class of 2027: This young man is a top-tier prospect, ranking 84th nationally and 11th among edge rushers in Texas.
- Stats that Impress: In his junior season, McCarty showcased his talent with 51 total tackles, 12 sacks, 20 quarterback hurries, and an incredible 26 tackles for loss. He's a force to be reckoned with!
- Breakout Performance: His sophomore year was a game-changer, with 59 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, and 11 sacks, leaving opponents in awe.
But here's where it gets interesting... McCarty's recruitment journey has been a whirlwind, with a busy fall schedule of visits. He started the season with visits to Houston and Texas A&M, followed by trips to Baylor, Texas Tech, and another visit to Texas A&M in September. October saw him at Houston and the iconic Red River Rivalry between Oklahoma and Texas.
November was a month of tough choices:
- Baylor: McCarty attended the UCF game on Nov. 1.
- Texas A&M: He witnessed the battle against South Carolina on Nov. 15.
- Houston: He caught the TCU game on Nov. 22.
- Texas vs. Texas A&M: The rivalry game on Nov. 28 was a highlight.
And this is the part most people miss: Texas A&M's pursuit of McCarty began in June 2023, when he impressed defensive line coaches Sean Spencer and Tony Jerod-Eddie at a summer camp. But it's the relationships that McCarty values most. He shared with GigEm247, "They're building relationships with me and my family... They keep it real... That's what I'm looking for in a staff."
As Monday approaches, Texas A&M already boasts a strong 2027 class, ranked 2nd nationally, with seven commitments. Will McCarty be the next big addition? Tune in to find out!
