The legendary rock band Jane's Addiction has officially called it quits following a highly publicized onstage incident. The band's lead singer, Perry Farrell, made headlines when he physically assaulted guitarist Dave Navarro during a Boston show in September 2024. The incident, captured on video, showed Farrell deliberately bumping into Navarro and then taking a swing at him, causing Navarro to unplug his guitar and walk off stage. This led to the cancellation of the band's ongoing tour and plans for a new album. The other three band members, Navarro, bassist Eric Avery, and drummer Stephen Perkins, filed a lawsuit against Perry, alleging assault, battery, emotional distress, negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, and breach of contract. Farrell responded with a countersuit, accusing his bandmates of a years-long bullying campaign. In a public statement, Farrell acknowledged his mistake, apologizing to fans and bandmates for losing his temper. The other band members, however, issued a separate statement, clarifying their decision to part ways and emphasizing their desire to preserve the legacy of Jane's Addiction. The band, known for hits like 'Been Caught Stealing' and 'Jane Says,' has now officially disbanded, leaving fans to reflect on their impact on the alternative rock scene of the late 1980s and 1990s.
