Businessman Albert Tei faces a new RM64,924 Sabah mining bribery charge, this time to ex-PM’s aide Shamsul Iskandar. On December 5, 2025, the 37-year-old was brought to the Sessions Court in Shah Alam, Selangor, charged with corruption. The case revolves around a bribe allegedly given to secure a mineral exploration license in Sabah. Tei, represented by lawyers Mahajoth Singh, Eric Paulsen, and Rajesh Nagarajan, pleaded not guilty before Judge Datuk Mohd Nasir Nordin. The charge, under Section 17(a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009, carries a maximum 20-year prison sentence and a fine. The prosecution aims to transfer the case to the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court, where Tei was previously charged with four counts of bribery totaling RM176,829.03 to Shamsul Iskandar. This new charge adds to the ongoing legal proceedings, with Tei's bail terms and conditions set by the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court applied to this case as well.
